A recently circulated video captures the substantial police presence at Miami's Bayside Marketplace on New Year's Day. The police were responding to a significant altercation among a group of teenagers, leading to multiple arrests on Monday.

Despite the official confirmation, various social media users have propagated speculations about alternative reasons behind the extensive deployment of officers. Conspiracy theories spanned from airport closures to the prevailing favorite conjecture of an alien invasion. After days of speculation circulating on social media, the City of Miami Police Department clarified the situation on Friday, stating to NBC6 that, "Nothing is being withheld from the public." The police reiterated that the heightened presence was indeed a response to the reported brawl among a group of juveniles, as initially communicated.

To address unfounded rumors, they emphasized that there were "No aliens, UFOs, or ET's. No airports were closed. No power outages." Additionally, an arrest report revealed that the involved teenagers were also setting off loud fireworks, causing panic among mall patrons. The ensuing chaos disrupted and caused damage to local businesses.
